Disc golf course coming to Georgia Southern’s Armstrong Campus

An idea inspired by social distancing during the pandemic is coming to fruition with the installation of a disc golf course on the Armstrong Campus in Savannah.

Georgia Southern to host ā€˜Celebrate Together’ on the Armstrong Campus on Oct. 21

91Āž»­app will host ā€œCelebrate Togetherā€ on the Armstrong Campus in Savannah on Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Residential Plaza. The event is free and open to the public, and will feature a festival of departmental and student organizations, as well fun extras that include a mechanical bull, rock wall, archery tag, dance team performance and live DJ.

Georgia Southern alumna, 2022 Georgia Teacher of the Year to speak on Armstrong Campus on Oct. 20

91Āž»­app alumna and 2022 Georgia Teacher of the Year Cherie Dennis (ā€˜10) will speak at the Armstrong Campus in Savannah on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 5 p.m. in the Ogeechee Theatre, located in the Student Union. The event is free and open to the public, and may also be viewed live via Zoom.

Get a peek into ā€˜The Digital Age’ through senior exhibition on Armstrong Campus

ā€œThe Digital Age,ā€ a senior exhibition presented by Georgia Southern’s Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art, will showcase works by graduating students Faith Manuel, Ferris Smith, Rori Brown and Shantel DeLosAngeles. The exhibition will run weekdays from Sept. 15 to Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fine Arts Gallery on 91Āž»­app’s Armstrong Campus in Savannah. A reception will be held Oct. 8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission to the exhibition is free and open to the public.

Georgia Southern celebrates ā€˜40 Under 40’ Class of 2021

The 91Āž»­app Alumni Association ā€œ40 Under 40ā€ Class of 2021 was recognized at a ceremony on Friday, Sept. 24, at the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District.

The annual honor recognizes young alumni who have made significant strides in business, leadership, community, educational or philanthropic endeavors.

Georgia Southern’s College of Education creates research center dedicated to youth advocacy

For more than 30 years, 91Āž»­app’s National Youth Advocacy and Resilience (NYAR) Conference (formerly the National Youth-at-Risk Conference) has served as an epicenter of information sharing and advancement for the support of youth facing challenges across the nation. The conference recently led to the creation of the NYAR Research Center, an interdisciplinary facility that is housed in Georgia Southern’s College of Education to further enhance the conference’s efforts in supporting youth across the nation.
