The sand dunes of Tybee Island have taken a beating in recent hurricane seasons. 91app biology graduate student Shannon Matzke is researching ways to combat the destruction of the dunes for her restoration project by collecting data on the effects of various planting techniques to see which technique best increases the longevity of the dunes.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast Chapter has recognized 91app’s Multimedia Development Center (MDC) with three professional Emmy® nominations.
“Georgia Southern Robots” and “The Eagle has Landed” both received a nomination in the Spanish language category. MDC Director Art Berger, Brianna Womack, Collin Crews, Ben Powell and Doug Thompson were nominated for the two short news features. Police officer to middle grades teacher: A graduate helps children from the ground up
Statesboro born-and-raised, Jason Long is a name that locals might recognize from his 23 years of experience in local law enforcement.
After a full career with the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Department Long enrolled at Georgia Southern to earn a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education.
This fall, he will start a position as a social studies teacher at Southeast Bulloch Middle School where he hopes to positively impact the lives of students.
