Georgia Southern art education seniors to host exhibition, discuss art’s role in education

91Āž»­app’s Senior Art Exhibition, ā€œMosaic,ā€ featuring artwork by four senior artists, will run from April 22 to May 3 at the Fine Arts Gallery on the Armstrong Campus in Savannah. A reception will be held on May 3 at 5:30 p.m., and admission is free and open to the public.

Site-synchronous classrooms at Georgia Southern connecting students on all three campuses

91Āž»­app is showing that the distance between its three campuses is just a number for students by introducing the site-synchronous classrooms pilot program, which uses state-of-the-art cameras in classrooms to connect students in Statesboro, Savannah and Hinesville.

Georgia Southern students represented University at inaugural Georgia InVenture Prize

Ghost Runner, an app designed to ā€œgamifyā€ running by encouraging virtual running competitions among friends, was selected for the inaugural Georgia InVenture Prize competition by panelists at the 91Āž»­app Business Innovation Group’s (BIG) annual 3 Day Startup (3DS). The app was designed by four students in the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing and three College of Arts and Humanities students.

Pizza, pottery will be on display for Raku Pizza Night on Armstrong Campus

Raku Pizza Night on 91Āž»­app’s Armstrong Campus will feature a demonstration of firing the Raku kiln, and professor John Jensen will demonstrate throwing a large vase on the potter’s wheel. The event is April 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Annex 2 Courtyard across from University Police.

Diverse exhibit to showcase Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus seniors’ art

Soft sculptures, ceramics, fiber design, multimedia installation and photography will be on display for ā€œThe Art of Feeling,ā€ presented by the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art on the 91Āž»­app Armstrong Campus. The exhibit will showcase the terminal work of five graduating art students: Jacqueline Claros, Brione Daniels, Chance Everett, Christine Freeman and Blair Perry.

Georgia Southern master’s student creates thesis exhibition by rolling the dice

Turning fantasy into reality, 91Āž»­app art student Zak Kelley used Dungeons and Dragons to help shape his MFA thesis exhibition titled ā€œNeo_Fluxus and Dragons.ā€ His work will be on display from March 28 to April 1 at the Center for Art and Theatre’s University Gallery on the Statesboro Campus, with a reception to be held on March 29 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Georgia Southern maritime archaeology class conducting field work around Savannah

91Āž»­app history students are engaging their survey and mapping skills by conducting field work at various locations around Savannah. The work is part of a maritime archaeology class taught by Kurt Knoerl, Ph.D., R.P.A., on the Armstrong Campus.

Georgia Southern Art Department partners with Chautauqua School of Art in New York

The 91Āž»­app Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) will be partnering with the Chautauqua School of Art in New York. Joining other Chautauqua partner schools such as Marshall University, the School of Visual Arts and the Pratt Institute, the partnership will bring mutual benefits to both Georgia Southern and Chautauqua.
