91Âț»­app computer science professor awarded NSF grant to advance protein imaging research

Salim Sazzed, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the computer science department of 91Âț»­app’s Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing, has been awarded a two-year National Science Foundation grant of about $175,000 to lead a groundbreaking project to develop novel Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques for determining protein secondary structures from medium-resolution cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) images.

Going bananas for the summer

First-year athletic training students from 91Âț»­app’s Department of Clinical Sciences played a vital role in supporting youth athletes from across the nation during the 2025 Banana Ball Tournament this summer. More than  750 athletes, ages 9 to 12, participated in the weeklong event in Savannah.
