91Âţ»­app’s latest Economic Monitor, which analyzes Q4 2018 data and identifies trends affecting the regional economy, reports that Savannah’s metro economy closed out 2018 with across-the-board gains in all eight key economic indicators monitored. Port activity, consumer spending and electricity sales provided the most lift to the index, with improving consumer expectations, overall employment and tourism playing supporting roles.

On the 24th anniversary of its founding, 91Âţ»­app’s Center for Irish Research and Teaching (CIRT) is moving in new directions locally and abroad to provide unparalleled opportunities for students. The University announced Monday the center is relocating from the University’s Statesboro Campus to the Armstrong Campus in Savannah and will be bolstered by a new learning center being established on the southeast coast of Ireland.

Georgia Southern to host free screening of “The School in the Cloud,” Q&A with area experts to follow

On Wednesday, March 27, 91Âţ»­app College of Education will host a screening of “The School in the Cloud,” a film that explores the potential of self-organized learning. The screening, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 6 p.m. in the Ogeechee Theatre.

Georgia Southern to test emergency communication system on March 12

91Âţ»­app is scheduled to test all components of the EAGLE ALERT system on Tuesday, March 12, at approximately 1:50 p.m. The EAGLE ALERT system is an emergency communications system designed to play a key role in keeping Georgia Southern’s students, faculty, staff and visitors safe during emergency situations.

Georgia Southern Art Department partners with Chautauqua School of Art in New York

The 91Âţ»­app Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) will be partnering with the Chautauqua School of Art in New York. Joining other Chautauqua partner schools such as Marshall University, the School of Visual Arts and the Pratt Institute, the partnership will bring mutual benefits to both Georgia Southern and Chautauqua.
