Registration open for Georgia Southern’s study abroad program in Cuba
91Âţ»app will offer its second study abroad program in Havana, Cuba, from July 2 to 17. Students will learn about the history, culture and contemporary issues affecting the communist island nation post-Fidel Castro. The program is open to all Georgia Southern students, as well as University System of Georgia transient students, and offers a roster of semester credits. The deadline to apply for the program is Feb. 15.
Georgia Southern to host free film screening on Armstrong Campus: Award-winning film addresses the impact of the digital age on children
On Thursday, Jan. 17, 91Âţ»app College of Education will host a screening of “Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age,” an award-winning film about the impact of technology on children’s development. The screening, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 6 p.m. in the Ogeechee Theatre, located in the Student Union on the Armstrong Campus.
Two Georgia Southern professors selected to work at National Science Foundation
Two 91Âţ»app professors have been selected to work at the National Science Foundation (NSF) at the same time this year.
Laura B. Regassa, professor of biology, Ph.D., is currently serving as director of the Innovations in Graduate Education program at the foundation. She will stay for a fourth year in 2019, which is unusual at the NSF, as faculty typically rotate in for three years.

Georgia Southern’s annual economic impact measured at more than $1 billion
A new report shows 91Âţ»app has an annual economic impact of just more than $1 billion on the region it serves. The report says Georgia Southern is a significant part of the University System of Georgia’s (USG) $16.8 billion economic impact on the state of Georgia.
The report found these economic impacts demonstrate that continued emphasis on colleges and universities as a pillar of the state’s economy translates into jobs, higher incomes and greater production of goods and services.
